Only the Good Lord Can...

As I looked out my front window Friday morning this is what I saw.

Only God can turn my beautiful redbud tree into a beautiful green leaf tree overnight. That got me thinking about the things that start out one way and end up another.....

Tadpoles become Frogs...Caterpillars become Butterflies...I call that a miracle. How bout you? Have a blessed week.....

Longhorn Sale

Well, I've survived another Longhorn sale. I was happy to see a new auctioneer this year who was capable of selling these animals at a much faster pace, like which I'm used to. My husband or my father in law don't mess around whether they are selling cattle, land, or stuff. It was good to get out of there before 10 pm for a change! I never got to go out and walk around and get a good look at the cattle, But my boys did! I sent the camera with them and they did a great job of getting some good pics. Cutter even got a few for his 4-H photography project!

I'm almost ready to return to work tomorrow so I can rest! It's been such a long week and a short weekend. We had a great service today at church. We had 3 baptisms, my Kids Choir sang and did so well. It's a small group but they were good! After church the boys and I got home, grabbed a PBJ sandwich and started cleaning house. AAAAHHHHHH what a horrible sight it was. I literally let everything go last week because I flat didn't have time to deal with it. And it Showed! But it's so much better tonite. Not totally done, but better. Need to tackle the boys' rooms and the downstairs family room. Lots of toys are going Bye Bye. They have outgrown most all their stuff. Time to move on! It was so nice to sit down and eat supper together tonite. Nothing fancy, good ol' spaghetti and I did make homemade bread. My favorite. My kitchen is clean, a lot of laundry is done and I have clean sheets on my bed! Whoo Hoo!!!!! Doesn't take much to entertain or please me Huh?

Should have been mowing the yard today but it was Cold. Sun finally came out but it didn't get warm. I wore a sweatshirt all day and was quite comfortable. Crazy weather. We have a "neighborhood" turkey that has been around for quite awhile. She proceeded to come up on my front porch today and I threw her some bread and she was quite content!

She is literally an arm's reach away. Nice mop and rug on the front porch huh???!!! I found out she likes old hot dog buns! Cool huh?

There is nothing sweeter than these babies....take a look

Pretty darn cute aren't they?

Traveling along

Zane Boy just relaxin

Mom and her wild hair thanks to the Kansas Wind!

Cutter Boy catching some Zzzzzs

Justin aka Mr. Cool

Here we all are at some point and time during our trip yesterday to Yates Center to get our sheep. We all took our turn taking a nap(except Justin) and singing to our favorite CD which is a mix of our favs. Took in a little bit of the Flint Hills Scenery as well...couldn't get a great pic of it, but it is pretty country. Some of it had been burned off recently and was beginning to green up.

Baaa...Baaa...

Well here they are...the wooly ones. Not the best pics as they are a bit wild! We'll get them tamed down soon. Then they are your best friend...follow us like dogs! We have a nice set of sheep this year. My boys each have 2 lambs and my niece Abby and nephew Sam have 2 each. Justin and Dave picked them out and looks like they did a great job! It has yet to be determined which kid gets which lamb. That will come next. Cutter loves the little black lamb and I got a close-up of him..or her, couldn't even tell you right now if its a wether or ewe!

Beautiful Day!

I hope that everyone got to enjoy today as much as I did. It was the perfect Spring day here in Kansas. Hardly any wind....sunshine and warm! I had the best day. Sporting my first sunburn of the year as well, talk about pink arms! Wow! I did several things today, none of which involved cleaning the house or doing any laundry to speak of. Maybe that's why it was such a banner day! ha ha I bought some tomato plants, pepper plants, basil and some creeping phlox and got them all planted today. It was so nice to dig around in the dirt and just enjoy the outside. I do miss the days of NOT working a 8-5 job, being home, being much more organized than I am now. Maybe that's God's plan for me....eventually. I sure would like that.

I worked at the sheep pen today...cleaning feeders, water troughs, etc. We had a fungus problem last year so we had to bleach everything this year. Justin did the barn a few weeks ago, I got everything else today. We get our lambs tomorrow. Looking forward to it--pics to come.

Next weekend is the Midwest Longhorn Sale here in Winfield at the Sale Barn. It's amazing to me the money that is spent on such poor quality cattle! But...I must admit, if I had the money??? I could be in the business. They are cool and I so enjoy seeing them. If you're in the area--drive by the sale barn next Friday or Saturday. There will be about 100 hd of registered longhorns we will sell on Saturday. I'll get some pics and post of that as well. I may actually have a few from years past to post now.

The moon is full tonite and if you get the chance...take a look. Just beautiful. Great ending to a beautiful day. Thank you God for all the beautiful things on this earth you have graciously shared and may be always be thankful and appreciative of the little things!

Camper for Sale

When I get my camera back from mom...I'll post pics of her camper. She is selling it because she bought a different/newer one. Pretty nice, nothing fancy but clean. If you or anyone you know is interested, please let me know and I'll get you my mom's number.

Sunday

Well, no new pics to post...my mom has my camera and I haven't gotten it back yet. Things have been kind of crazy...have I said that before?!?!?!?!?
My grandpa passed away early yesterday a.m. at the age of 97. He passed away very peacefully which answered many prayers. My grandma(the one that had the bday last weekend) is so lonesome and my heart breaks for her. We went to see her today and she was Remarkable! She looked wonderful and is showing her strong character....as always! I must say....My Grandma Dell...ROCKS! I truly come from good stuff and for that I am forever grateful. Grandma asked me to sing at the funeral. I don't do live performances at funerals...I'm entirely TOO emotional for that. So I've recorded 3 songs for them to play...had a major party foul this evening with the tape....the tape player ate it, yes I said ATE IT! I have an awesome friend at church that is totally tech saavy and is going to help me re-record tomorrow night! AAAHHH! I'll be singing I Can Only Imagine, One Day at a Time and How Great Thou Art. Say a prayer for me as I do this again....

a few more pics....

Grandma's 91st Birthday

What a great day. We had a picnic/cookout today for my Grandma Birdell's Birthday and had a great time. She looked beautiful and had a ball, she had lots of family and several of her friends(of 60yrs) there to celebrate with her. We couldn't have asked for a better day to enjoy outside either. She was thrilled with her party. I love you Grandma!!

Wilmore Opry at Medicine Lodge

What a fun evening...mom and I went to Medicine Lodge last night to sing at the Wilmore Opry. Mom played in the band and I got to sing. It was nice and they had a nice crowd there. Here's a few pics from it...they turned out a bit dark. Tried to tweak them but....anyway. I had forgotten how much fun it is to sing with a live band---makes we want to get in a band again. But then I bring myself back to the real world of...being a mom, cook, chauffer, secretary, jack of all trades, etc and then the thought is gone!

The band was.....Daryl Schiff, Gene Winter, Randy Parks, Vic Erickson, Rick Schiff and Mom.
