MeRRy CHriSTmaS GiVEawAy!

Yes, it is true! I am finally going to have my very first GIVEAWAY!

Beginning today...I want to hear comments about your Christmas Traditions, old and new~your favorite things, etc. Leaving a comment will automatically enter you in the drawing. Let your friends know and have them stop by and leave a comment too!

The prize??? Well, it's going to be a handmade set of assorted cards.

Let me just say, I do NOT claim to be a "crafty" person of any kind. I love to scrapbook and I enjoy using my "scraps" to make little note cards. It's fun and I love giving them!

I will draw for the winner next Friday evening, December 11th! Have fun and I can't wait to see what other traditions are out there!

Something of a new tradition: Starting December 1st, we read a chapter in Luke (there are 24) up until Christmas day!

I would bug my dad all day on Christmas eve, begging him to let me open 1 gift. And all day he would say no. But he would give in by that evening. With the condition that he got to pick the gift. So once I had the gift in my lap and the excitement of FINALLY getting to open a gift, it would always be the accesories to whatever really neat gift I was getting the next day. Like batteries, or whatever the cool gift needed to work. I am almost 30 and to this ever Christmas my dad still does this to me. I have passed it on to my kids. Last year my son bugged me all day long Chirstmas eve to open something, so by that evening I gave with the exception that I got to pick. So feeling much like my dad at this point, I picked out a gift for my son, much to my suprise of how excited he was to open a package of new underware. :)

OHHH, OHHH, OHHH!!! I love note cards!!

OK back on track here LOL!! One of MY biggest Christmas traditions with my kiddo's is picking a special wrapping paper and bow to wrap the "Santa" gifts in!! I don't use it for anything else, the rest gets burned! It has had them fooled all of these years...I think DD finally knows the truth, RATS! Now I can't use her to get Santa to get me my gift LOL!!!

Funny enough! City Girl Turned Country Girl and I have had the same tradition - wrapping the santa gifts in special different than all other wrapping paper. Another tradition when I was little and that I've done with my kids is we wait for everybody to get up Xmas Day and we all sit in our jammies (dogs included) and open our santa gifts... and have just "us" fun family time! I'm a new follower - looking forward to checking your blog out! I visited thru City Girl Turned Country Girl -

Just saw your sidebar, and Good Lord, Angel is absolutely adorable!

Congrats on your first giveaway - sounds fun!

Visiting from City Girl Turned Country Girl - isn't she the sweetest?

On fun Christmas tradition is to read the story of the birth of Christ - and each person is assigned a sound effect. So every time the word "angel" is said, the person has to sing "HALLELUJAH!", or when the word "shepherd" is said, another person has to say "baa".

Fun :)

Dad was the cowboy boss, so we always celebrated Christmas on Christmas eve. Christmas morning he was gone trying to get everything done early so all the cowboys could have most of the day off. My wonderful grandparents were usually there. Dinners were beef, potatoes and sweet stuff. Gramma made plum pudding that she'd can, we'd open it, heat it and pour sauce over it! What examples of unconditional love I had. There wasn't much money - but we never felt deprived! Family is my tradition!

Great post Les! Your decorations look terrific!

Ours is a Christmas Eve Family Get together with a gift exchange where you can steal from the others! We have done this for a very long time!
Every year someone try's to have the best most stolen gift.

We have done this for years, all 5 siblings with their grown kids, and now grandkids! One year my nephew brought an alligator head...(my sis was so embarrassed he choose this!) my mom ( who was 80) opened it. In the end that thing was stolen over and over and again..my grandson got it in the end...the head is still his prized possession..named "Head"!

I grew up in a house that had fireplaces, we used the one in the big living room and made s'mores for Christmas. They were yummy!

We always read the actual Christmas story in the bible to remember why we celebrate.

Hello Leslie! I came over through Michelle's City Girl Turned Country Girl blog, but I've been meaning to come by off Paula's Broken Y for quite some time, never quite made it over here. :) Better late than never, huh?

Anyway, our Christmas tradition is Christmas Eve. For one thing, we make blessing ornaments. Blessing ornaments are something hung on or placed around the tree that represents some blessing the Lord has given us during this year. We sit around and talk about our ornaments and the blessings the Lord has given us. After that we pray, and then we hand 'round the presents! Christmas day we sleep in, and usually have some kind of big lunch -- turkey, manicotti, lasagna, something like that. And we invite some friends to join us, as we have no family in the area. So that's our Christmas tradition!

I'll be by again later, now that I've finally come over and said hi. I look forward to reading more of your blog!! :)

Oh, how FUN!!! Congrats on your first giveaway :) I need to do another one before long. Our Christmas tradition is to spend Christmas Eve with Justin's family having dinner and opening gifts...then we go to my parents (also in Winfield) and spend the night with them. It's extra special to spend the night there. Since we live in the same town, it's not something we do any other time. We wake up Christmas morning for breakfast and presents!

What a sweet giveaway! Who doesn't love "scraps" They are so handy.
Ok So traditions...does not shopping untill the day before Christmas count? Then frantically trying to wrap everything and have it under the tree before morning. Seems like my handsome Cowboy and I find ourselves in this situation every year.I can't buy gifts all year long? First off I would have to give it to the person right a way! Mostly our tradition is to remember the reason for the season, and give thanks to the good Lord for all our blessings. Good luck to all and to all a happy few weeks before Christmas!:)

Hi Sweet Friend! How fun this is! I love your "scraps"! Okay, as a family we always stay home on Christmas day. We determined when we had our first baby that our Christmas day would be spent around our fire and tree. We watch "Fiddler on the Roof". Not a Christmas movie at all, but I love the music. I don't have a decorating tradition other then having a nativity scene and a star at the top of my tree.

As a follower of Jesus, my perspective on Santa Clause has changed so our focus and emphasis is on the gift of Jesus only. However, when I was a child, all three of us girls would climb into the bathtube on Christmas Eve to get all cleaned up and low and behold, Santa would come while we were in there! We'd come running out dripping wet to look at all the goodies.

Hafe a Merry Christmas Sweet Friend.

Oh...how wonderful. Love your idea. We make hot chocolate and a build a big fire and watch "White Christmas" then send the kids to bed and play Santa getting everything ready. (Even now that most of them are older, we still do it the same way.) We wake them in the morning and they all pile on Mom's king size bed and wrestle and laugh and we take a picture of them. Then we let them come into the living room and open stockings and then take turns opening most of the presents so we can see what everyone got. Mom and Dad then make a huge breakfast of bacon and eggs and rolls and we sit and talk for well...ever. It is a beautiful time.
