Do Not Be Deceived

When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me."  For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed.  Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.  Don't be deceived, my dear brothers.  Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like the shifting shadows.  He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.  James 1:13-18 (NIV)

Many times I have said, "I'm being tempted." and I was meaning tempted by God.  Oh My, countless times.  I have repented of those words and Praise the Lord, I know the TRUTH...and the TRUTH shall set me free!!!  It seems lately that I have heard these words, "God is tempting me" ALOT.  I am so sad to hear those words and I try to often share this scripture with whoever is speaking those words...it is NOT TRUE!  Anything good is of GOD, anything BAD is of the DEVIL.  Deuteronomy 28 lists all the Blessings and Curses...Our free will will cause us to be tempted.  Our flesh must be trained to not give way to sin.  It's very hard but it can be done.  How?  By feeding on the word of GOD, the TRUTH!  It was so refreshing to learn that GOD was not tempting me!  I'm not saying he doesn't Allow us to go thru things-- but HE(God) is not the source of the Temptation.  There are always going to be difficulties and trials--but I am so thankful my GOD is like a ROCK, never changing, never wavering, never doubting, never leaving--always loving, always forgiving, always merciful, always bigger than anything!

I pray that these words are of encouragement and hope to all who read them.

Excellent word today, Les! I, too, have said those words - and when I learned I repented.

Perfect timing on this one Girl! Seems the world is spinning out of control and everyone I talk to is in a tizzy...including me some days! At times like that, its easy for temptation to sneak in and skew our vision and it's good to remember that God is our rock and refuge, not the source of that temptation. Thank you!

I have never felt as if God was tempting me? I have felt that God had a plan, when I am having a difficult time. If I have ever been tempted, I usually think it is bad, so I assume it is the devil. Interesting post. I understand what you mean. I am thankful daily for all my blessings. I try to be strong as to not be tempted as well.
Good to be back, thanks my friend.

Amen! Even through the difficult times, which we can pretty much be guaranteed of, our God is a faithful God, and our need is only limited by His supply!
