Amber Waves of Grain...

This picture is looking east from my folks house. Some of my dad's wheat. The whole drive down there last night I was thinking how lucky everyone was, the wheat didn't look too bad, whereas north and east of us got serious hail on their crops. Well, I bet it may not look the same this a.m. WOW did we get a toad-stranglin' rain last night. I was about to head home from mom and dad's and it was getting pretty dark in the west. I started out the door with my arms full of stuff--mom in tow and headed to the garage to go outside. To my surprise, the storm had already hit! So I turned around and went back inside. We had 60mph wind and a lot of rain. CB was beside himself--he thought we were having a tornado! Bless his heart, he was shaking. It finally blew over after about 30 mins. I took out for home...the storm was moving right for Wfd and I was pretty sure it was going to beat me there. I was totally bummed...the sky was so cool looking because it wasn't sundown just yet and there were some light breaks in the storm clouds, so I stop to take some pics and of course...my batteries were DEAD! AAAHHHH I always have an extra set with me...but for some reason I only had 1 battery...I must have dropped the other one in the camper(probably when I was trying to help my good friend Paula!!) anyway, no awesome pics to post, the lightning show on the way home was continous and awesome. By the time I got home, JB was out of power and had finally found a flashlight and we had no radio...he was not a happy camper. Add that to my list...a battery powered radio. Thank the good Lord that it had dropped about 30 some degrees and it was nice and cool out, opened the windows and went to bed to the sound of more hail and rain--small, but still hail.

About 2 this a.m. the power kicked back on! Bless the guys hearts that were out working in that storm last night...I heard that P's area was out of power too. I'm anxious to see the wind damage around town. It was hard to tell last night...no street lights but I could see lots of leaves and limbs down. Another short sale day for me...too darn muddy for anyone to bring any cattle to sell.

You know it's hard for me to understand....my dear friends in New Mexico are dry as a bone and we're completely saturated. It's a great reminder I guess...GOD has a plan for all of us and he knows exactly what we need and when we need it. What we see doesn't always seem right...but it is!
Well, I need to fire up the ol' washing machine and get around for the day. Headed to the barn for a short sale today---I know that these short sales don't pay the bills, but I sure do enjoy getting home at a decent time!
Have a great Wednesday!

Nothin New

I can't believe it's June! My oldest baby will be 11 on Saturday. Wow...that flew by. Had an un-eventful weekend which was really nice. Did a lot of busy work that we don't always have time to do. Got my last 2 kitchen doors painted...they need to be hung up and the new hardware put on. I'm so relieved that's done-well almost done. Get some new countertop and it will be great. Sunday night was our first night of Vacation Bible School. It was good--had lots of kids and a lot of fun with them. Last night was covered dish supper at the park for 4-H. CB did his first project talk. How to make a PB&J sandwich. He was totally put out that he had to do it and embarrassed to be in front of everyone, but he survived...all the while dad and I are chuckling!
Need to get busy...end of the month here at work and lots to do. I don't even have any fun pics to post! Bummer

Pretty Cool Huh?

Barefoot skiing...not sure my feet
would like it.

Doing a few tricks while barefooting.

Our friend Jon is amazing on the water. We went out on the water with him, he needed a boat driver so he could ski. Well, I got some cool shots of him. He barefoots, air-chairs, wakeboards, etc. He just had back surgery last September and this was his first outing since then. I thought he did pretty well! I have to tell you, when you barefoot, the boat is running pretty darn fast, about 50mph. He literally jumps out of the boat grabs the Boom and starts skiing....it's amazing. My sister and her husband were with us on the boat and they didn't know what was going on---just that we were cookin' across the water, when he jumped out their eyes were as big as half-dollars! Just like mine were the first time I saw it!! Enjoy these pics.

What a Weekend

Well, where to begin. We left for the City Lake on Friday afternoon. Oh my gosh it was WINDY! We always figure that Memorial Weekend is going to have some crazy weather. Just didn't expect it the whole weekend. We had serious wind in the middle of the night on Friday, my friend Paula and her family were trying to TENT it at the lake. She ended up in the van with her little guys and her dear hubby and older kids stuck it out in the tent, by morning, they were very wet, cold and tired. They ran home got dried off, warmed up and came back. Saturday it was so cloudy, cold and windy that I sat in the camper for some of the morning. Justin had to work and the boys and I went to an anniversary party Sat evening. Got back to the lake around 10:30 pm and by Sunday a.m. the good ol sun was trying to shine. We went out on the water with our friend Jon for several hours, it was really nice--then the lake got really crowded and rough. Another big and ugly storm last night...home by noon today. It has not been warm all day, just cool, cloudy, rainy, stormy, etc. Didn't actually see any tornados this year, kind of unusual for us at the Lake on Memorial Wknd.

Hope that everyone had a safe Holiday weekend. Ours was filled with rain, storms etc and good times with family and friends!

Memorial Day Weather

I just looked out the front door and this is what I saw. We are actually on the very edge of this storm where we live. Had we been at the lake still or at the barn..we would be getting hammered AGAIN! I'll post more pics later of our crazy weekend at the lake. Let's just say it was WINDY and WET!

Dominoes anyone?

Well, tonite the guys had a pretty mean domino game going on at the lake. It was so darn windy, couldn't do much else. I got so tickled listening to the conversation between the 4 of them. Pretty funny stuff. Grandpa spent most of his time trying to tell Cutter it was ok that they were behind and they were going to catch up pretty quick! But..before the domino party, we had races. Grandpa decided he could maybe outrun the boys. In the short race, Grandpa won by the hair on his chin, longer race...Cutter boy skunked 'em all! Not sure that boots are maybe the "fastest"shoes he has! Zane ran in his lake shoes...not too fast. Cutter was the only one prepared!

Weekends

When the weather warms up, I find that I have the tendency to work harder on the weekends than during the week. I'm ready to go to work tomorrow so I can rest! I have sore muscles, sunburned shoulders and I'm down right Tired! We had a cleaning day at the church yesterday...washing windows, cleaning out closets, I re-potted several of our plants that were in dire need! We left there after a yummy dinner of sloppy joes and other goodies and headed to shear our sheep...yep all 8 of the 4-H lambs have officially been to the salon for a wash, cut and style. Let me tell ya, the washing was WORK! Oh my gosh....nothing like that wool all matted with mud and manure. They are not really broke to lead well yet either. Or at least the one I took to be shorn....no, I had me a genuine Jumpin lamb....yep, jumped up in the air instead of taking steps forward. My arms are sore from pulling on that darn thing. Oh well, it's good for me and a great reminder that I really need to do more physical labor!

Today, more busy work...My guys all went fishin today. Left early and got home late afternoon. I went to church, Bible school meeting, WalMart and finally home. I really do not like going to Walmart....I'm weird I know, but I liked our Small store much better than our Super Store that is out of stuff on a regular basis. What's up with their produce? Why does it look like it's been on a truck for 3 weeks with No cooler? ICK! Bought all my staples today...everyone in the house needed shampoo, etc. Will make a Dillons run later this week. We're headed to the lake for Memorial weekend...need to get groceries for that. I really haven't even worked in the camper yet. Aaahhh so much to do. Oh well. That's what I love about the camper...It's stocked and pretty much ready at all times...need some clothes and food, but everything else is ready to rock and I can wipe down the counters etc when we get there! The boat is tarped and ready to roll too. I baked some choc chip cookies and stuck them in the freezer, they will taste good this weekend. I need to go to the library this week as well, nothing better than a good book to read at the lake.
Well, I need to get busy...have lots to do before bed.
