10 days to go...

Well, since I've last posted I have not accomplished much as far as preparations for the fair! ZB made a trial batch of snickerdoodles yesterday, we have dropped some weight on the heavy lambs and added some to the skinny ones. Art projects are still sitting on my hutch in the dining room....waiting.....waiting....waiting. Wednesday night we will go to our extension office for photography mounting stuff...that will at least be done. In the middle of all this...I've received our enrollment packets for school. They must be turned in BEFORE the fair. YUK. I had planned on Sat to make breakfast burritos to put into the freezer. We stopped by Braums to get milk, eggs and sausage and toodled on home. Yep we did...as I open the back door of my van on NOON SUNDAY after church---guess what I found?!?!?!?!?!?!? You know it, my groceries from the night before. I'm pretty sure I had 2 dozen hard boiled eggs in there, it was so hot. I'm telling ya, my brain cannot hold any more information. I swear some days it's smoking from overload. Last night ZB and I stopped and bought another gallon of milk, 2 dozen eggs and 2# of sausage and talked about the groceries all the way home...and they did make it into the fridge. Whew! Still haven't got to the burrito project. Maybe tomorrow.

Tonite I'm happy to be showered and de-sheeped....is that even a real phrase? In my mind, right now, it is. They are stinkin animals, I'll take cattle/horses any day over these 8 lambs. I did get some pics though. The boys worked pretty hard tonite with their sheep. Everything will be fine by fair time. It always is.

We are so darn busy at work....school/sports physicals, kindergarten shots, you name it we're seeing it. We always do pick up more than we already are this time every year. Sports will be starting so soon. This won't include the MAD rush we'll get of kids calling the day they start their sport. Nothing like planning ahead huh?

Yesterday was my mom's 67th birthday....she definitely doesn't look it. She went to church with us and then we took her to eat Neives' and then she and I took a big shopping spree to JCPenneys---it was fun, we weren't rushed, nobody dinging me, are we ready to leave? can I have this? where's the bathroom? Are we almost done? It was so nice. I came home with absolutely nothing, zilch, Nadda....not for lack of trying. Everything these days is STUPID looking. I hate the styles right now and we have no western store in town--that carries clothing. I was really frustrated by the time we left. I just need some nice shirts/blouses...something that doesn't look like a maternity top or something that was in style when I was about 8-10 yrs old...and jeans that are not cut out for people with stick legs--no butt and no waist.. Am I the only woman around that has big thighs a butt and a waist? Why no I'm not, I just have no idea where they shop!!! Oh well....

I'm going to go ahead and step down from my soap box and post some pics! Enjoy.

It's Friday!

Wow...I'm on a serious time crunch. 2 weeks from today is our County Fair and we have much to do to get ready! I get this same "jazzed up feeling" every year at this time. After the fair each year, I'm so quick to say"next year I'm going to be more organized!" WHATEVER!?!?!?!?I really need to stop wasting good breath for that phrase! I suppose it just wouldn't be the same if I were organized, it would take all the excitement out...notice I said I was the one feeling this way, not my husband or my boys. I started thinking last night of all the food I need to get cooked up and into the freezer, art projects to be put onto foamboard, photographs to be chosen(BTW the one above of the purple flowers is one of CB's for the fair)sheep that need a diet and excercise and sheep that need FULL feed and all of them need work with just being shown...but it's this way every year and I remind myself that and it always is fine by fair time. I remember very well the excitement of the county fair and getting my livestock ready and how much fun it was to spend with friends. I know my boys are enjoying that same thing only at an earlier age as I was not a 4-Her....

After reading Ranch Wife's blog....hearing about her "alone" time I got to thinking about what I would do if my guys were gone for a few days....definitely Scrapbooking would be on the top of the list. I just love to do it and never have the time to drag out my stuff and work on it...I always imagine that if I had it out all the time somewhere, I would work on it. Maybe not, who knows. A good read would be on the top of the list as well.....nothing better than a book and some water to float on...soaking up the sun!

I received all the paperwork to fill out to get the boys into school....holy cow, I do not like paperwork. I deal with that at work all day and I don't like working on it at home. School starts on August 15th....very soon. My boys are so NOT ready.

I have a serious goal for this Fall....FAMILY PICS. I want to get pics of my immediate family and also of my folks, sister and her family. It's been almost 6 yrs and it needs to be done. Don't really even want to think about it until at least Sept. but I sure want it done.

I have a haircut today and a color....I went with blonde highlights and love it....hate the dark roots coming in, I used to be a blonde....now I'm becoming mousey brown with splashes of gray! Doesn't that sound awesome? Almost could name hair color after that it sounds so good....NOT! I am almost feeling a serious WHIM coming on...maybe a haircut too! I haven't done anything fun with my hair in so long....it's so curly and I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo lazy about fixing my hair in the a.m. Anyone that knows me, knows I love to wash, gel and fluff and GO......I have the wild hair look and I don't know if I would be happy after a few weeks of having to get up and use a hair dryer and hairspray...whew...sounds like high maintenence for me!

Well, time for another cup of coffee before the shower....I'm getting around lazily this a.m. Went for my usual walk at 530 but we returned early....started raining..of course it quit by the time we got back home, just nice and HUMID out there...felt like someone wrapped a hot, wet towel around me YUK! Have a good weekend.........

Time Flies

Can't believe I haven't posted in over a week. Too busy with life. Isn't that silly? I have a great joy to share...our church has a new minister coming in August! Answered prayer! Met he and his family this past Sunday and they seem so nice. I look forward to getting to know them better. I'm so going to miss our interim Pastor and his wife...they are awesome people and will be greatly missed by our congregation. They have been such a blessing to all of us. Yesterday my DH was the big 40! He is trying to ignore it, I keep bringing it up! I say be thankful that you have good health and many other things...he says...UUGGGHHH I can't believe I'm 40. Gosh, it seems like so much has happened but yet I have writers block. Maybe by later this week I'll be thinking more clearly to post something! My brain is just done for the evening. Wishing everyone a wonderful week....

4th of July

We had a great July 4th at my aunt and uncle's house. The kids literally shot off fireworks from 4pm until 11pm last night! My boys looked like they had been working in a coal mine, black faces and the works! Oh but the fun they had. Some of their cousins were there, so in all we had 5 boys and 1 girl! My youngest and the girl are the same age and they had so much fun together while the bigger boys did their stuff. My mom brought my Grandma up, we had hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, cornbread salad, guacamole, potato salad, creamy cucumbers, brownies, key lime pie and I know there was other stuff I just can't remember! Awesome food and so much fun. We had a few pretty mean volleyball games as well...oh my I'm a little sore this a.m.!!! Had an awesome time with family....I hope that ya'll had a great July 4th as well!

I'm back

I'm back to KS....we took a family vacation to Tablerock Lake in Branson MO for a week. Had a great time soaking up the sun, skiing, boating, swimming and relaxin! But...glad to be back home. I'm going to sort thru my pics and share--maybe tomorrow! I'm tuckered out tonite. Hope all is well with my fellow bloggers...missed you guys and your comments!!!
Beautiful KS Sunrise on our way out last Sat. about 7 am.
Missouri was so green and lush, they've had alot of rain like we have here.

This little lizard was at our campsite when we pulled up, ZB took it's picture, I guess he must be the official welcome wagon. I can do without those kinds of welcomes!!!

This picture is the little road we follow into our campground. Looks like we're headed into nowhere, but just beyond this little curve, a beautiful lake and campground!
