We Have Survived!

Oh my gosh, I don't even know where to begin. I have not mysteriously disappeared, lost my internet, left the state, etc etc....nope just been being a mom, wife, taxi driver, chief cook and bottle washer, 4-H parent, fair goer, food stand worker, sweating machine, laundry keeper-upper, scheduler, bill payer and I'm pretty sure there's more but my poor brain is soooooooo FRIED I can't think of anything else. Oh yea, in betweena nd betwixt all that I tried to work a couple of days. Wow....our county fair is over and for me it's like Christmas, I am so happy and excited for it to come and Oh so glad when it's over. We had a great fair this year but this year brought some serious HEAT. It was anywhere from 100-107 all thru the fair and the humidity was RIDICULOUS as well as NO WIND...what's up with that, I live in the Sunflower State, the wind always blows, we were begging for a whiff of air!!! Oh my....we came home with blue and red ribbons on the sheep. The sheep were so NOT cooperative on the night of the show...CB's big lamb came in weighing 150#....he only weighs about 65#. It got a bit western before it was all done. That lamb is an absolute pet, never gave us any trouble anytime, that darn thing spent all his time jumping up and nearly knocking CB over...he was beside himself and almost in tears before the class was over. I felt so bad for him. None of our lambs wanted to set up or anything, they wouldn't lead, it was like they had never tried to show them before...which was not the case. ZB was so mad I thought he was going to lose it in the ring....Thank goodness that didn't happen, I might have marched into that show ring and rung his neck!!! CB was in Junior Showmanship and was one of the older ones in there..at age 8....anyway, no one's lamb was cooperating--I bet because it was soooooo HOT! anyway....at one point and time during junior showmanship there were 4 lambs loose and CB was on the ground, his little ewe lamb had taken him down! Oh boy, what a night!
ZB came home with 2 purple's...one for his wonderful batch of snickerdoodles and the other on an art project. My neice won Grand Champion in the art project....she did an AWESOME painting....I was so proud of her! CB came home with blue ribbons for photography and art as well. Mom did a major No No....by accident of course. CB had an awesome pic of our dog, close up, the date was printed on it---automatically moves it down 1 ribbon placing. He was not HAPPY! Oh well, live and learn, next year we are going to read the rule book together.. very closely and follow accordingly! My awesome pic that I thought was soooooo wonderful earned me a great white ribbon!!!!! Oh well, I don't care, it's for fun and I love it and can't wait to get it framed and hung up in my house. Did I mention it was so dang hot that you could have scrambled eggs on the midway? Well it was. We sold our animals in the premium sale on Monday night, the last day of the fair, my boys got along like champs! Wow, great premiums for both of them and a nice addition to their savings accounts. It was really late by the time we got home, we couldn't even load out sheep until 11pm....hit the floor running again early Tues a.m. for cleanup. We ended up leaving about 10 am, the sheep barn was clean and I needed to get to work. CB went home with my mom and ZB went home, showered, took a nap, I took him the sale barn at noon to help...we had a big sale this week, so dad needed extra help! It was late again last night and we left this a.m. at 6 for OKC, ZB had a check up with his diabetes Dr. Oh my gosh....I would have rather done about anything than get into my van and drive down there....but it had to be done. It was a good trip. I really enjoyed the sunrise this a.m., the silence and the time to just think....ZB was snoozing! He had to have lab done then we went and picked up a few school supplies...went back to the office and drove around for 15 mins looking for parking...oh my gosh that's almost impossible to find anything. Got inside and was in the dr's office for 2 hours....aaahhhhh....it's worth the wait, but we were TIRED! Did I happen to mention it is Hot again today????? Well it was. We headed to the mall, grabbed something to eat, shopped for some clothes and headed home around 3...stopped in Ponca City to see my Grandma....headed home and my DH had fixed supper....Yes, I said fixed some supper, I nearly fell over and cracked my head but I caught myself just in time. I had called him and asked that he brown up some hamburger and we would be home in about 30 mins. He had all the goodies out...oh how nice that was. It was so good to walk into my house....eat a little supper and clean up minimal mess and chill out. My guys are watching the Chiefs/Bears preseason game. We are getting quite excited about football in this house. I do enjoy watching I just don't get to do it much anymore. I feel so out of touch with the real world right now....I found so much crap in the floor of my van, some of it important crap. You can definitely tell we've been flying by the seat of our pants around here for about 2 weeks. My house looks like it anyway. Oh well, it won't go anywhere right? THis weekend, my goal is to get my house back into order...get ourselves a schedule going as school begins in 1 week....UUGGGHHH.

I better post some pics....
