Sewing Project

First, I want to establish that I am NOT a seamstress.  I learned to sew in high school.  My grandma's were sewing queens.  My mom didn't sew.  When we were expecting ZB, the first born, I decided I would make a quilt, curtain and bumper pad.  With my link to the "auction" service...I picked up a old sewing machine for $10 bucks..I think(it's been a few years ago!)  I enjoy SIMPLE projects.

This is my simple project.
The mutt, Angel, really enjoys coming in of an evening.
She lays around in the living room while we are hanging out
watching tv.  She is an outside dog, but likes to be in.
I decided to make her a dog bed.

Made with stuff I already had.  Even better.
I used an old mattress pad, ZB got a new one.
Cut the elastic off, folded it into fourths.  Sewed the edges.

The denim.  It is from my $5 queen size bed skirt I purchased about 11 yrs ago.
I took the gathers out.  Cut them into even strips.  Sewed them up.
Stuffed the mattress pad inside.
Viola!
It's working out.  She is all about a soft place to lie down!

I took this tonite.  It's still snowing.  It's a little blurry
I was lazy and took it thru the kitchen window!

Looks great, I'm sure she's loving it! We all learn more every time, at least I do when it comes to sewing. I love it though!
Yay for snow!

Well that looks like one happy dog! You did great.

Snow...if only..

DD#2 that now resides in the Texas Panhandle called and said it was snowing there last night.

Praise God for the moisture!

Good for you for taking on a sewing project - I'm not much of a sewer but learned more this past Christmas when I made dolls for my girls. I too used 'old' material, nice on the budget! ;)

THANK YOU - for your prayers and for the Psalm - it brought much comfort to me! ♥

That's the best kind of sewing - sewing for someone else! :) Well done! And double brownie points for being thrifty and using something you already have!
