Well, it's official, Bluegrass is over and we actually Camped at our family business...kind of weird, but it was actually pretty darn fun. The flooded fairgrounds made for a quick evacuation of the camping and dispersal throughout our county and the one west of us. It all worked out ok. It certainly wasn't the same but everyone made it work...and it's definitely one for the books! My boys ended up with tshirts that stated this: Flood, Mud and Pickin, 2008. Pretty cute and oh so true. We had some pretty good music camped out at the barn, some from Kansas City, Topeka and some from Texas. I had a lot of fun singing with them. Of course we camped with our usual crew and cooked good food, drank hot coffee and had campfire at night! I took some pics, none of which I'm very impressed with but I do have proof we were there.
I'm very saddened this evening as my neighbor across the street has passed away. She was not very old(50's), had cancer and had gotten the flu over the weekend and was put into the hospital. It just doesn't seem fair, although I didn't think it was fair to see her suffering like she was either. I had gone over a couple of weeks ago and taken her an apple cobbler and we had a really nice visit. I'm so glad. I need about 10 sympathy cards...I love to get mine from the Dollar Store, in pkgs of 8 and low and behold they have been out. I must go tonite and see if they have any yet. Need to think of something to do for my neighbor's husband...they have 4 daughters...youngest is in college. I can't imagine losing my mom right now, at 36, but I sure couldn't imagine it at 20....God be with them.
I'm on a mission for a new Bible. I have an NIV that I've had for several years and I do like it alot...but I recently read upon something that I was NOT happy with how it was worded. Bummer. I do know what I want...I want the Amplified Version...Joyce Meyer. Also...one of my dear friends has read the book, The Shack....she HIGHLY recommends it and I'm going to be purchasing it as well as both of these things can be found at our local Wally World...not that I want to purchase it there, but....my options are limited and it would be more cost effective than ordering it. Ooooohh I can't wait to get going on a new read! I've got so many irons in my fire right now...Oh well, makes life interesting! Need to help out my neighbor with some pics...Have a blessed week!
Also, thanks to all of you who took my "washing machine" poll. Your comments were all helpful as well. I do think I'm going to purchase a front loader...but the great thing is...I'm not in desperation for it now and I've got time to shop and compare!

Hey there lady! How've you been? It looks like ya'll had a great time - even with the flooding! I love my NKJV bible. It's fairly easy to read and doesn't stray too far from the original meanings. The Shack has been highly recommmended to me as well. Let me know what ya' think.
So good to hear from you!
Hey Les so good to have you back. Have been wondering about you and Paula. She has been up to her ears in apple butter and you have been up to your ears in picking and grinning and mud. I love bluegrass by the way.
I have both a NKJ's version and I am pretty partial to the New American Standard. I also have the Amplified. I like to look up verses in all of them and compare.
Not trying to get into your business, but pray and read some articles about "The Shack". There are some good ones online. Lighthouse Trails research is a good site, usually has pretty good info on the new books, teachings, and teachers that are popular. I have not read it, but I have heard some things about it that are disturbing to me. Not trying to cause a ruckus, please don't take it that way. Just be aware.
Have a great evening.

I just wanted to brag a second, you talking about the bible reminded me I need to go get o KJV bible for the house. Keelin has one to keep at school and mine is the same one Gram gave me when I was baptized and its not KJV but Keelin has bible class everyday and today she had a test and last night she needed to study and I was like oh no what do we do? So I went online and there is an online KJV bible. Awesome I had no idea. Anyway helped me put of a tight spot and Keelin was the only one in her class that got a 100 on the test. It was over Phillipians 4:19. Poor Keelin was learning about How Jesus died on the cross in bible today and I guess she paid attention more than she ever had and she got so upset and cried at shcool cause it made her sad. Poor little 6 year old!
Thanks RW for the heads up! And for the website! I'll check that out. I've heard "it's too Supernatural" and it really can't be true. But God is Supernatural--miracles are supernatural, Jesus' resurrection is supernatural and I totally believe in that! Curiousity is getting to me!
You would love the Festival...such good music for a solid 4-5 days and most of the time, there is just as much good music in the campgrounds as on the stages!
Can't wait to see this quilt!
You have to buy special detergent for a front loader. Not such a big deal, but I know I would forget and use the wrong thing.
I like my NKJV as well, and have recently purchased an Expositors Study Bible. My favorite has been my Nelson study bible, it's NKJ but it has some great cross referencing tools.
I second RW, definitely pray before you read the book. Here lately I've been very awakened to the need for opened eyes when reading a mans/womans opinion through a book. Even if it lines up with the Word of God 99%, to always check out that 1% of what seems iffy and remember that a little yeast leavens the whole lump.
Enjoyed the pictures! It looks like ya'll had a good time. The sky looked beautiful, even though there were a few clouds! Gotta enjoy that refreshing that good rains bring. Until someone tracks mud through the house, that is. :P
I'm so sorry about your neighbor. I lost my dad when I was 19. It is tough.
A most recent good read for me is - Denise Jackson's "All About Him". She is the wife of Alan Jackson but this book is not about him but about her relationship with the Lord. Excellent - steeped in Scriture.
My favorite bible is my Life Application Bible - Good Stuff. I also have The Message which puts the Word into WAAAYYY down to earth, everyday language. Not my choice for study but good to just pick up and take a drink from.
When I first accepted Christ, my pastor said, "DO NOT take my word for it! Research, study, seek wisdom, and pray. Remember . . . God is supernatural, there is a spiritual relm that we can not even fathom! But He is NOT mystical. There is a difference. Blessings as you begin your journey for wisdom!
I just got a comment from you! I hope you are online right now updating your blog!!
