Nothing Much

How about this little praying mantis? Found him last weekend while clipping flowers. Those things fascinate me.

My new coffee table and end table. No that is NOT a baby raccoon on the right side of the end table, next to the chair, that would be our wonderful Davey Crockett Hat!

My coleus and impatients did very well this year.

Well, I thought I might post a few pics of just...stuff. Had a fairly un-eventful weekend. I did several things yesterday, grocery store, a retirement party then home to start in putting up apples. I decided to start that around 330 pm. Actually went well, CB wanted to help me, so I sent both boys out with sacks to pick apples and when they got back in, I got a small knife out and a cutting board, I peeled, CB sliced and lemon juiced the apples. I ended up with 2 cobblers for a couple of my neighbors and 4 bags in the freezer for later. Not too bad for a couple of hours work---it really went much better than I anticipated with my little helper! Shame on me for doubting it to be any other way! Made a nice pot of chili(it's so nice and cool here) and we had chili pies for supper and vegged for the evening. Church was so good today, our new pastor speaks very well and......today, he played the guitar and sang....a song HE WROTE! Oh wow...it was great! I was very impressed. What a treat.

I've got a few pics of my new furniture I bought...you know, the new to me kind! I'm really enjoying the tables alot! Just a note, my couch is also a garage sale find! We love it!

My apple tree, we've lived here 9 years and this is the first time to enjoy these awesome things! Don't really know what we did or didn't do, but I am so happy to have them! I will probably weigh about 500# if I keep making these apple cobblers. Good thing for neighbors. Let them eat it!

Oh I'm so jealous of your apple tree. With a good, Godly, sisterly, jealousy of course (cough cough cough) :P The trees we normally pick from didn't produce this year! I think the late frost must have got them. They always have the crispest, sweetest apples and I soooo missed picking them this year. Last year we canned gobs of homemade apple pie filling and it was so fun. It made perfect apple crisp... *sigh *
Love your newtoyou furniture and those flowers are beautiful! You must live in a favorable climate, all of my stuff has bit the dust, except for the roses.
I'm soooo ready for Fall!

Girl! I love those tables! What a great find. They go soo good with your stuff! Okay - Fall is coming, city wide garage sales will be starting up again. You and I are going if we have to hire a lion tamer to watch the kids!

I'm on quart #20 of apple butter! I need to freeze some now. I'm very tired of apples!

I am jealous of your flowers also. I bought two mums and have killed one of them already!

ahhhh you people who make stuff from scratch. I wish! I want to be that way! Well I just had to comment here because I noticed you said how nice your weather was and I was just torturing myself by looking at wellington weather and then comparing it to our weather. Well its just plain sad. Today it is 96. This week it will be mostly upper 80's and near 90 and nothing less! UGH so yucky I cant stand it! Poor Keelin just about melted at her soccer game Saturday(so did I) it was awful! oh well thought I would let you know how lucky you are!

Hey Leslie!!

Your right, your coleus and impatients outdid themselves this year!!! They are beautiful, especially in that arrangement!!! Do you fertilize with every watering?? That apple tree looks loaded!! You might want to also try apple dumplings. YUMMY!!! That's my favorite. Plus, I saw a recipe that was like an apple crisp, but called for a WHOLE bag of melted Kraft carmals too...can you imagine!!!?? Double Yum!!
Love ya,
Michielle

Thanks Leanna....Our climate has been favorable most of the summer.
P definitely want the apple butter recipe. Ooohhh what a good gift that will be!

How are you since your surg? No, I don't fertilize every time I water. When I plant in the spring...I have MiracleGro in like a BB form...anyway I always throw a little of that in the dirt, mix it in well and then they look decent all summer. These are on the north side up next to my house, they get a little morning sun a little afternoon sun but it's been a good spot for them! I've actually pinched back the coleus several times!
Kelli I'm sorry your cooking in the south....it's been sooo humid here and I greatly dislike it...my hair is fuzzy all the time!

Hey, thanks for asking about me since my surgery!! It's been 3 1/2 weeks now...things are going slow. The surgery was 'the most painful' thing I have ever done....and I had a 9lb 5oz baby without ANY meds!!! I ended up with infection in the incision, bladder infection with major bladder spasms, and last but not least, yeast infection!!! So, my recovery is going slowly. Getting a little stir crazy being stuck at the house. All in all, things are getting better. Thanks for asking!! It's been rough!!
