Sweet Sunday&Laundry Soap

It's a cold, cloudy, dreary day here in the Sunflower State...at least where I'm at.  Boo. Hiss. I do not want any more cold weather.  What happened to 84 and sunshine last weekend?  No wonder we have sick cattle.  I will be happy when they all get well, get gone and enjoy their lives on the ranch east of us.  20 more days...and yes I'm counting :)  Love it all, but I'm tired of missing church because we can't seem to get chores done in time to make it.  Never fails, seems to be a sick one or two that have to be pulled and doctored.

I'm armed and attacking my home.  It's just filthy.  I'm embarrassed.  I've been gone too much.  I apparently have not taught my boys the NEED to clean.  I expect too much because I assume that all the men in my home see the EXACT same things that I see.  Clothes to be folded.  Trash to be taken out.  Muddy boots inside the house.  Fingerprints on my front glass door.  Toothpaste in the sink.  The giant piles of dirty clothes.  The floors that need swept.  The dust on the coffee table.  The un-made beds.  I should never assume.  I already knew that.  But I choose to forget.  Pretty silly choice.{smile}

The boys and I were in OKC on Thursday and had a great dinner with LeAnna and little Sprig.  We met up at Toby Keith's restaurant.  My boys and I try to eat somewhere different each trip down.  That was their choice for the day.  LeAnna was kind to oblige.  Such a fun time visiting and playing with Miss Sprig...she is just precious, not sure she knew what to think of the boys and I.  There was a point and time while I was holding her, she did not know if she wanted to laugh or cry!  So thankful for my friendship with LeAnna that all started with this darn computer!  I would love to meet more of my blogger buddies!

Last weekend...my scrapbook buddies and I were discussing making our own Laundry Soap.  I have a poll going..but would love to get some feedback on personal experiences with it. #1 I want to try it, but I want to use liquid-I have a front loader and liquid soap just seems to work better in it. #2 I want something that is going to work on the tough stains I fight on a daily basis(ex. cow manure, grass stains).  #3 I am not going to make my own soap to use in the laundry soap.  I really look forward to getting some feedback on this.  I'm really interested and want to know what my best option is.

I must return to cleaning...I will now attack my boys bathroom.  Pray for me-LOL!
Have a wonderful day.  I'm on the road to a clean house!

It was soooo good visiting with you, friend! It just made my day getting to sit down and eat lunch with you and the boys. It had been way too long and we'll have to do it again. I think I determined it must be the curly hair that makes my kids spaz. We'll just have to get together again and see if she's grown out of it, haha!

My friend Grace makes her own liquid laundry soap. I know it's more labor intensive than the powdered kind (you have to cook it and such) but she loves it because it works great in cold water washes. That's about all I know, though. I know there are tons of recipes you can google!

Try to stay warm!

I tried our hand at shampoo bars and they turned out AWESOME! Can't wait to try laundry soap! Next up though is some goats milk soap!
I am cleaning like mad too! The 2 yr old decided to eat raw oatmeal all over the house while I was outside hanging up the clothes (its getting kinda hot here in AZ around lunchtime! Clothes dry in less than an hour!) The oatmeal looks like confetti all over the house! Man I need to mop....another day!
Thanks for the encouragement on the vanilla! I think it will save me a lot of money too! For a liter of vodka and the vanilla beans--about $17! Definitely saving money--can't wait to try it!

I have thought about it. I have the ingredients. I have yet to try it. Maybe I will get inspired. I hear you about the house. Yikes! I need to clean!

I've been contemplating the laundry soap dilemma recently too. I need to use a liquid too. Our water is so hard that the powder just does not do the job. We've got stains like you so. City folks' laundry just can't hold a candle to the laundry my machine is faced with on a regular basis. Keep us posted and I'll do the same.

Why are the bathrooms always the worst room to clean in the house?!?! I put off cleaning them each day. LOL!!! Your boys sound a lot like my kids. I hope they will grow into neater/cleaner adults! HA!! I have never considered making my own laundry soap. I wonder if it will cost just as much to make it vs. buying it in the store. I would love to know what you come up with!!!
